Are you aware? HTML is used to build the majority of web pages on the World Wide Web (WWW).

This is due to the fact that every browser, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge, is capable of rendering a web page using this hypertext markup language.

HTML is a markup language that plays a vital role in the formatting of various programming languages such as PHP, ASP.net, JAVA, and others.

The browser reads an HTML web page and displays the results of back end programming.

Let’s see what are the major difference between .html vs .htm file extension.

Difference between .html vs .htm (HTML vs HTM)

HTML is the current operating system extension for HTML web pages and files.

Furthermore, the.html extension was introduced for security reasons, as the three-letter extension.htm contained more security threats.

HTM is an older version of the HTML filename extension.

This extension was used in the past because operating systems were not powerful enough to handle four-letter extensions. Because the.htm extension was less secure than the.html extension, the.html extension was created.
